Prize ships "Senegambia" and "Ferd Laeisz",

French Officers and 100 men have arrived here and state that they have been instructed by the French Naval Author- ities to take over "Senegambia" and "Perd Laeisz" in order to take from Saigon to France rice, war material and men. Trench Consul-General has no official information and has

made no application for the vessels. He has telegraphed to Government of France suggesting that they should appro- ach the British Government. French Naval Authorities and officers would like to have both ships handed over to them without waiting for condemmation. This could only be done by requisition of the Admiralty who would then hand over vessels to the French Naval Authorities. Submitted for
