With reference to your cypher telegram of the
12th February hides which it is desired to export are 180 light buffalo weighing about one and a half tons and 148 light cow weighing 924 lbm. The usual average weight of sach type is 17 to 20 lbs. for the former and kɛ 6 to 8 lbs. for the latter. The weight of heavy buffalo hides is from 21 to 30 lbs. and of heavy cow-hides from 9 to 15 lbs. The stock of hides in Hongkong is nearly 1,000 tons of
which about 75% are heavy hides.
