The asphaltum and the mineral agerente shall be heated separately in suitable appliances to a temperature of from 150° to 175° C.
2. The cold filler shall be added to and thoroughly mixed with the
mineral aggregate.
The hot asphaltum shall be added to the mixture ad the mixing shall be continued within the temperature limits specified until every particle of the mineral aggregate shall be thoroughly coated with
asphaltum.
The amount of asphaltum in the mixture shall be from 6 to 8% by
weight of the total weight of the mixture.
4. The mixture shall be carried to the work in suitable carts or dump wagons and shall not be colder thm 125° C. when it reaches the
street to which it is to be applied. The wagons shall be covered with
canvas or other suitable material, to properly retain the heat in the
mixture.
5. The mixture shall be spread uniformly over the base with hot
shovels and rakes to a depth of 25% greater than the finished thick-
-ness of wearing surface specified.
6. The mixture shall be imediately compacted with a hot roller
weighingat least 500 pounds per foot width of tåre.
