GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 8th. February, 1915.

1

Sir,

22224) I have the honour to refer to paragraph 1(d)

of my Despatch No. 200 of the 5th. June, 1913, in which I re- -commend the appointment of an additional Drainage Overseer in the Public Works Department for the City. Hill District, Shaukiwan and Aberdeen as the work had become too much for one Overseer to supervise. This recommendation was approved in your telegram of the 5th. July, 1913, but the Crown Agents were unable to find a suit- -able man and ultimately the post was filled locally from the

20th. November last.

2.

In consequence of the vacant post not being filled Mr. Dickson, Drainage Overseer, had to work much overtime and on Saturday afternoons and Sundays, and I recommend that he should be granted a bonus of £3 a month for the period from the lat. January to the 19th. November, 1914.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obedient,

marble servant,

Homay

Governor,&c..

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LEWIS HARCOURT, M.P.,
