sir.
The Hon kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation have notified me that, from the 1st January next against their market quotation, the issue of drafts on Indis, Europe, etc. to this Department is subject to payment by Bank lotes only; but they will quote also the rate of exchange, if paid in silver dollars, which will probably be 10% lower than the bank note rate.
I have therefore to request that you will kindly
make it know to the men of the Regiment under your command that two rates of exchange will be in force on the 1st of January next, viz: onerate when payment for issue of orders is made in bank notes, and a different rate when the amount is tendered in silver dollars.
In future the limit of a single Money Order only, i... Rupees 600, will be issued to any one person in any one day.
I have, etc.
