With reference to Colonial Office Letter No. 45411

of the 26th ultime, en the subject of appointment of Meners R.A.J.Savage and T.H.Martin as examining Supervi■iers in

the Hong Kong Post Office I am directed by the Postmaster

General to state that Messrs. Savage and Martin expect to

sail for Hong Keng on the 3rd instant on which date it is

Understood their services under the Coleny will begin.

Meanwhile they have been granted leave of absence

from duty to make the necessary preparations for departure

and there will consequently be no break in their services.

As regards the questions of seniority I am

directed to state that as Mr. Savage's status as sorter is

superior to that of Mr. Martin, who is a Postman, the former

is regarded as the senior in the Imperial Service.
