This plan shewed the ridges to gables considerably

lowered. Your Mr. Denison explained that this had

been done at Mr. Chatham's request after the plan of

12th November 1908 had been approved. This state-

ment was accepted by Mr. Fisher though new to him and

extensive alterations of plans were necessary conse- quent on this. You do not appear to have appreciated

this fact and I cannot understand why this lowering

was not shown on the plans until 29th July or even

mentioned until 27th August and I should be glad of

an explanation.

I cannot again agree with you that importantį

matters of detail as I consider many of the items

asked for to be are matters for the Clerk of Works.

Further I an perfectly certain that, if your Firm found any difficulty in getting assistance from him or i

from the Engineer in Charge, after your last accusa-

tion of want of co-operation from these officers at which time they were specially instructed to afford every assistance, it only needed a note to the Director of Public Works to procure such co-operation.

The last paragraph of your letter is evident ly directed against Mr. Fisher. I regret that you should have found it difficult to work with him but I am quite sure that he was endeavouring to get the best work he could for the Government. Mesars. Gale and Wright assure me that they found it so difficult to get satisfactory plans required from your Firm that they were forced to prepare them themselves to save time and avoid friction from constant reference but their supervision did not last so long as Mr. Fisher's or doubtless their patience like his would have been exhausted
