Gentlemen,

New Government Offices.

I have to reply as follows to the matters

referred to in your letter of 24th ultimo now that it has been amended.

Condition of building on 24th and 26th ultimo. I have added some notes in (a), (b) and (c) below which are an answer to your general remarks on page 2 of your letter where you appear to consider that the Contractors were not delayed for want of plans.

(a)

This needs correction.

On the top of the main cornice. the greater part of the base to balustrade has been bedded and where not fixed it is due to the delay generally caused for want of drawings.

There are four gables ready for the steel framing in connection with main roof, viz:-

Gable S.W. angle, Des Voeux Rd. Wall built to a

-Do.-

height of 9'7". Wall built to a:

Connaught Rd. Wall built to a

height of 7*4*.

height of 3'6".

and Jambs to windows fixed.

Wall built to a

height of 6'0".

Also the Central Cable, Pedders Street, is practically

ready (being 3'6" high and the main cornice above coping of balustrade is fixed).

This makes five out of a total of nine gables and even at this date the steel framing of main

roof

NOTE: Heights quoted for the purpose of reference are from the ceiling level of Third Floor as stated, by you in connection with cross walls at (b).
