Son reply to your letter of 27 the bust, our firm is established in Hongkong and China. We buy goods for our Branches there in "Germany and elsewhere under
nonnal conditions.
The contract covering the goods referred to in the Communication was placed by us before the outbreak of war, and the letter in question was a proposal by the supplier to carry the transection through by evading the regulations of our country. We simply replied that we must abide by the laws of our country during wartime, and expressing regret that any creditable concern in a neutral country such as the liviss Credit Bank, Lurich & should aid our ennemies in the manner indicated. Churther we sent a copy of the "Times" of 23th dust containing your comment and portion of Goldschmid to letter, to the Swiss Bank. Should the Colonial office require any further information we shall be glad to supply it. We shall be glad to receive M. Goldschmidt letter back when finished with Mix Ross &
