GEORGETOWN, BRITISH GUIANA,

The Clayton Fire Extinguishing

fisting Company, Limited

London.

Dear Sirs,

3. 10. 08.

With reference to the visit that I took to the Clayton experimental station under your guidance in June of this year, nd to your desire to know how the apparatus tha: your firm has shipped here gets on, you may be glad to know that the Type *A* which arrived here about August 1908 has been set up and works beautifully and satisfies everyone that sees it. Moreover a steam punt is now being built to place it on.

The smaller Type "H" that arrived here about

works March 1908 and which is run by an oil engine, excellently when the oil engine is in order. The joints, and valves and valve packings, etc., in spite of constant attention, are constantly leaking and requiring minor repairs. This probably is the result of our heavy, hot and moisture-laden atmos- phere, since the "Primys" lamps, of which a quantity are used here, frequently give much the same trouble.

Yours truly,

(ad)K.S.WISE.
