Dear Sir,
In June last; 3 packages were sent to us by
Mr. J. G. Milne, 54 Urquhart Road, Aberdeen for for-
warding to Hong Kong described by him as follows:-

M Cakes for 7. Miller, Hong Kong.

H Boots for A. Melville, Hong Kong.
freight paid to Hong Kong by Mr. Milne, and the packages
were duly despatched,
We just learn from our Agents at Hong Kong, that
on the packages being opened they were found to contain
Morphia. This drug is prohibited, except under Covern-
ment permit, and importers who are found trying to import
the drug under a wrong description, are liable to heavy
fines, and imprisonment. Our Agents believe the names
given as consignees in Hong Kong, are assumed names,
application has been made for the packages,
as no
Our Agents are naturally indignant at being mixed
up with what looks like "Smuggling", and we consider these
facts should be placed before you.
The name of the manufacturers we believe is Kessre..
T. H. Smith, manufacturing chemists, of Aberdeen.
We shall esteem it a great favor if you would cause enquiries to be made as to Mr. Milne, and any information of a satisfactory nature, which we can pass on to the Hong Kong
Government, will be esteemed.
