I am directed by kr. Secretary harcourt to inform you that, subject to your being passed by the Medical Adviser of this Depart sent as physically fit for service he proposes to select you for prolationary appointment as an Assistant mistress in the service of the Goverment of nong song with salary at the
rate of $200 a year, and free garters of an allowance

Your salary will be paid in the local
currency in the manner shown in the last paragraph of
the accompanying print (ŝastern no.121).
3. It is to be understood that your engage-
ment is for not more than three years from the date
of your arrival in the colony; and that, if it is
established to the satisfaction of the Governor tmt
you are not qualified for efficient service there,
he will, subject to the confirmation of the Secretary
of State, have full power to cancel your appointment
at any time within the said three years without
giving you any further compensation than a passage
back to dngland, which will be granted only if he is
satisfied that you have, by your good conduct, deserved
it. If not previously terminated or expressly con-
tinued,
