any further compensation than a passage back to England, which will be granted only if the Governor is satis- fied that you have, by your good conduct, deserved item If not previously terminated, the appointment will cease at the end of the said three years, unless it be expressly continued. If it is continued you will be placed on the pensionable establishment of the Colony and your salary will be raised to £150 a year on your completing six years' service dating from your arrival in Hengkong,
3. You will be provided with free furnished quarters and attendance in a building attached to the Civil Hospital. You will be subject to the orders of the Principal and other Kedical Officers of the Medical Department and of the Matron of that llospital; and also to such rules as the Government may from time to time prescribe. Uniform, laundry, fuel and light, will be provided. You will be primarily employed
in private nursin; but when not so engaged you may be employed in any of the liospitals of the Colony. After three years' satisfactory service you will be eligible for appointment to the Hospital Mursing Staff be vacancies occur. If you are ultimately appointed to the Hospital Staff you will still be liable to be called upon to undertake private nursing if occasion requires.
4. It will be necessary for you to express your acceptance of the conditions stated in this letter before your selection can be completed. In other respects you will be subject to the Colonial Regulations
