ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE,
BATTERSEA, S.W.,
13th June, 1907.
NORTH ASHFIELD,
NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE,
July 4th, 1912.
I have very great pleasure in stating that Mr. Lancelot Forster has been well known to me for some years past.
He has also had charge for about two years of my sons, superin- tending their lessons, etc., and I can state from practical experience that he is quite capable in every respect for the post he now seeks.
Mr. Forster is steady, honest and reliable, shows great tact in the treatment of his pupils. During the time that I have known him he has done some very excellent work under the Newcastle Education Committee,
I wish him every success.
(signed) SIR JOSEPH B. ELLIS, J.P.,
(Ex Lord Mayor).
I have pleasure in testifying to the good work and character of Mr. L. Forster, as a student of this College, 1902-1904; he was a man of good ability and method, and achieved well deserved success in his various examinations, both religious and secular.
As a practical teacher he was earnest and thorough, and made steady progress in both years of Training, and gave promise of becoming a thoroughly good teacher and disciplinarian.
From what I have heard since of his work, I have every reason to believe that he has justified the good opinion that we formed of him. Mr. Forster also took an active part in the Athletic life of the College, and would thus be in sympathy with his pupils in their outdoor exercises, as well as in their class-room.
In all my personal dealings with Mr. Forster, I found him thoroughly straightforward and honourable, and very willing to undertake any duties entrusted to him. For further evidence as to his work since leaving College, I would refer to the Reports from the Authorities of the School where he has been working; my own recollections of and information about him are distinctly in his favour, and I cordially wish him success in gaining the promotion which he now seeks.

Principal.
