sir,

I am directed by the Postmaster General to send to you herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonios, copies of letters which have recently been exchanged between the Chinese Post Office and this Department with regard to the adhesion of the Republic of China to the Universal Postal Union on the 1st of last

month.

As the mattor involves the abrogation, as from the 1st of September next, of the postal arrangement concluded between the Hong Kong and Chinose Post Offices on the 12th/29th of December 1904, it seems probable that the Chinoso Post Office has already informed the Hong Kong Administration of the stop taken by the Chinese Government; but, as a measure of precaution, the Postmaster General has caused a letter of which a copy is annexed to be sent to the Hong Kong Post Office.

The Postmaster Goneral will not fail to acquaint the Secretary of State for the Colonies in due course with particulars of any changes in the Mail Service which may result from China's adhesion to the Postal Union.

Tho Under Socrotary of Stato,

COLONIAL OFFICE.

I am,

Sir.

Your obodient Servant,

Efrabb
