I am directed by Mr. Secretary
Harcourt to inform you that, subject to your
being passed by the medical adviser to this
Department as being physically fit for ser-
vice he proposes to select you for appoint-
ment as a Nurse in the Hong Kong Medical
Department with salary at the rate of £110
rising after three years' service to £130
per annum. For purposes of payments in the
Colony salaries fixed in sterling are con-
verted into dollars as to 80% at the rate
of 189d and as to 20% at a rate fixed by
the Government and based on the average
exchange value of the dollar during the
month ending on the 15th day of the month
for which salary is to be paid.

It is to be understood that
your engagement is for not more than three
years from the date of your arrival in the Colony; and that, if it is established
