With reference to your letter of the 8th instant (10/1972 F.1) further respecting the assessment to

Military Contribution of the Opium Revenue at Hong Kong,

am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's

Treasury to state that They concur in the view of the Army

Council that, pending a decision upon the Report of the Colonial Contributions Committee they should adopt the same

attitude in regard to the cost of the Preventive Service in

Hong Kong as in the case of the similar service in the

Straits Settlements.
