REG 14 MAY 14 32

London, S.W.

12th May 1914.

You

With reference to your letters No. 9518/1914, dated

mo the 9th of April and 14740/1914, dated the 25th of April, enclosing a copy of a letter from the General Post Office, I am commanded by the Army Council to reply as follows:-

1. The Council concur in the suggestion that the

Kowloon Bay site may be released.

2. The three sites proposed by the Joint Committee are

all objectionable from a defence point of view, and it is

suggested, in view of the possible adoption of an n all round"

in lieu of a "directional" aerial, that suitable sites might

now be found in Hong Kong or Stonecutters Island.

3.

I am to add that the Council hold the opinion

that the selection of the site cannot be proceeded with

until the question of the type of installation has been

decided on.

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office, S.W.

I am,

sir,

Your obedient servant,
