We understand that at the beginning of this month the Hongkong Goverment took steps according to which all German and dueèrian firms in the Colony are being liquid- ated by British merchants appointed by the Hongkong Govern- ment, the Liquidatorė appointed being authorised to deal with the goods in possession of those firms at his discretion, by either delivering the same against payment, if sold on contract to the local merchants, or to dispose of unsold goods.
As we further understand that an inquiry was addressed by the Hongkong Government, through your Department, to certain British seospting houses interested in such shipments to express their agreement with the course taken by the Hongkong Government, we have the honour to submit that this Bank is interested in the financing of shipments of mershandise to a number of German firss in Hongkong, the names of these firms
