It is evident that during the continuance of the war it will be impossible for our China houses to trade with Germany, but we are prepared to give an undertaking to this effect, if so desired.
We would mention that our Senior partner resident in Shanghai is a British subject, and if extraterritorial- ity is to affect the question of China's neutrality, would presumably be precluded from dealing with his
own firm.
