Immediate.
Sir,
With reference to Mr. Read's letter of the 28th
instant No.26936, I am directed by the Marquess of
Crewe to transmit for the information of Mr. Secretary
Harcourt a copy of a telegram that he has despatched
to the Government of India with regard to the call
of the "Komogata Maru" at Hong Kong.
His Lordship understands that the Governor's
telegram of the 23rd instant to the Governor General
of Canada must have been received after the sailing
of the vessel from Vancouver, and he presumes that
no steps have been taken by means of wireless
message or otherwise to prevent the call at Hong
Kong.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Offics,
S.W.
I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
9. W. Holderness.
