With further reference to your letter (M.74939/14)
of the 27th November, transmitting a copy of a telegram from His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokio with regard to the
Companie
position of British insurance/e agents in Japan under the Trading with the Enemy Proclamation of the 8th October, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state, for the information of Sir E. Grey, that the Insurance Companies, notwithstanding the strong representations which have been mads to them, are reluctant to discontinue the employment
of German agents abroad.
I am to enclose a copy of a Kemorandum on the subject of the lst December submitted by the representatives of the Insurance Companies which Sir E. Grey may perhaps think might with advantage be sent to His Majesty's Ambassador
at Tokio.
