We have for many years past acted as Solicitors for
Messrs. Arnhold Karberg and Company who have carried on
business in London under that style since the year 1871.
They have for a still longer period had a house of business
in Hong Kong and have also houses of business in various
ports in China, a house in New York, and, more recently, a
house in Berlin.
It is right to say that at the Chinese ports they have
been registered as a German firm.
The house in London has recently heard that pursuant
to some edict of the Government German firms have been pre-
cluded from continuing in business and Messrs. Arnhold Kar-
berg and Company are told that their business has by order
of the Government been transferred to Messrs. Jardine
