Sir:-
With reference to your letter of the 20th. instant
enclosing a copy of a telegram from the Governor of
Hongkong reporting the arrest of William Alfred Beer,
I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to transmit
to you a copy of a note from the Swiss Minister giving
further particulars as to the charges on which the
extradition of the fugitive is desired.
Sir Edward Grey will be glad if Mr. Secretary
Harcourt will be good enough to cause a telegram to be
despatched to the Governor of Hongkong in the sense of
this note, and will at the same time add an enquiry as
to what has become of Madame Gruebler.
