I am instructed to inform you that this Chamber
has received from the Hongkong Chamber of Commerce a
cablegram asking it to "very strongly urge' upon His
Majesty's Government the necessity for pressing the
Chinose Government to promptly and thoroughly deal with
pirater in fouthern waters in the interests of human
life and of the property of traderu affected by their
depredations.
The Hong Kong Chamber also express the view that
it is absolutely essential that the naval patrol
should be increased in Southern waters and more
particularly in the Kwantung Delta, and they add that
villages which are the headquarters of the pirates
are quite well known and that steps ought to be taken
to deal with them in an exemplary manner.
