whether any advantage would arise from its adoption. Sir

E. Grey proposes therefore not to consider issuing any

further instructions to His Majesty's Consular Officers in

China in the sense of $4 of Bir F. H. May's despatch of

January 22nd. unless a further communication from Ir. Secre-

tary Harcourt on this subject is received.
