With reference to your letter No. 40854/13 of the
4th of December last respecting the draft China (Companies)
Order in Council, I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey
to transmit to you herewith for the information of Mr.
Secretary Harcourt copy of a despatch and enclosures from
His Majesty's Consul-General at Shanghai on the subject.
A copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Minister at Peking
concurring in the amendments suggested therein is also
enclosed.
A further communication will be addressed to you in
due course when the proposed amendments have been fully
considered in thie Department.
