We have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter
E.261/3 of 29th July enclosing a copy of a letter from the
Colonial Office with enclosures regarding the proposed signal1-
ing installation at the Kowloon Terminue.

We should be obliged if you would let us know whether
it is intended that we should now osthin a definite quotation
for the work provided in our scheme B. referred to in our
general letter No.219 dated 30th April, subject to the altera-
tions and suggestions of the Acting Manager as set forth in
his general letter No.151 dated 13th June. The letter of H.E.
the Governor dated 23rd June does not appear to us to be quite
definite as to whether a contract is desired or not.
On a previous occasion when a signalling scheme was
desired for the above Railway, competitive designs and tendere
vere obtained, and after due consideration the design and tender
of the Railway Signal Co., Tubd., was recommended for acceptance.
