Sir,
I
RECE
C.O

REGE 5 MAR 14 WHITEHALL CARDENS,
413
LONDON, S. W.
4th March 1914
Terminal Station.
have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No.616/13-14 of the 13th January and its
enclosures relative to the contract for the steel and iron
work of the terminal station of the Cowloon-Canton Railway,
which has been let locally.
2. The document received under cover of our letter
is not a copy of the contract, but a copy of the form and
specification upon which tenders were invited, the blanks
for prices, time of delivery, etc., not being filled in.
As tenders were not due till 15th January, these particulars
were obviously not available when the Governor wrote,
Without them it is impossible to make any comparison.
3. Should the Secretary of State care to pursue
the matter, he will perhaps ask for a copy of the contract
as actually signed, giving the total sun agreed upon, if
that is stated. The schedule of prices which the contractor
is required by the form of tender to fill in should be
included, with all other particulars of the contract.
The Under Secretary of State
