I an commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty to acquaint you for, the information of the
Secretary of State for the Colonies that they have
received a letter dated 18th instant from the Foreign
Office forwarding a request from the United States
Ambassador for the release of the S.S. "Havermetal" late
"Germania" stated to be American owned, which is understood
to have been captured on the 21st August and taken to
Hong Kong for adjudication.
My Lords would be glad to learn whether any particulars are known as to the nature of the cargo which this vessel was carrying at the time of her capture.
