I have received with much satisfaction your telegram of 2nd November reporting that the Legislative Council have voted $100,000 to the National Relief Fund and that $135,000 have been collected already by public subscrip- tions. Crow Agents instructed to in accordance with your request. I note that further monthly subscriptions have also been promised. I desire to express my cordial acknowledgment of this proof of the liberal and patriotic spirit which animates the people of Hongkong in the present crisis.
