Mr. Fung Yan Kwong states:
On Sunday the 11th October at 4.45 p.m. I was sorting Hongkong letters. I took out the missorts and brought them to the forward table. In passing I looked through into the Parcels Branch and saw two people one Chinese and one Portuguese (a boy) opening the safe in the Registration & Parcel Branch near Er. Remedios' desk. I went to Mr. Martin who was at r.Gutierrez's
desk with lessrs. Reed and Poole. I asked Mr. Martin what about those people opening the safe in the Registration and Parcel Branch. We then both (kr.Martin and I) went over to the Registra-
tion Branch.
Mr. Martin asked the Portuguese what he was doing in the Registration Branch and he said: his father (ir .P.A.V.Reme- dios) told me to come and get a 10 dollar note. Mr.Martin told him he had no right to do that. As far as I know the Portuguese had a key to the door at the back of the Registration Branch counter giving access to the Registration Branch. The Portuguese had some notes or a note in his hand. The Portuguese locked up the safe and the key was handed back to Mr. Martin later on, I think. I am not sure about this. r. Martin did not know any one was in the Registration Branch till I spoke to him. Postman No.43 told me about it just after I noticed the Portuguese in the Registra- tion Branch. The Chinese appeared to me to be Mr. Remedios' cook.
