(5).Under my agreement with the Colonial Government, I was entitled to a passage to England costing £41.5.0,but was only allowed by the Government £38.10.0. I took up this question with Dr. Johnson, but, as he failed to reply to numerous communications, I was compelled to employ a Solicitor who promptly effected a settlement for the former amounts. (6) By reason of Dr. Johnson's failure to provide an opportunity I was reduced to such a state of nervousness and anxiety, that I was unable properly to attend to my duties this(October 19th morning, and had to pack, pay outstanding accounts, call on my Bankers, arrange for my luggage, call on my friends, collect outstanding accounts, effect insurance, and attend to many other details necessitated by departure after a residence of three years, within the space of a few hours.
My sole object in laying before your Excellency the foregoing complaint is to assure to the Sisters who remain in the employna of the Government of Hongkong, some measure of consideration upon their departure -consideration which, I respectfully point out, is conspicuous by its absence under Dr.J.T.C.Johnson's regime as Prinsipal Civil Medical Officer.
sir.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient Servant.
