With the exception of the incident in the attached extract from refused charges book, as far as I can ascertain, the Police neither in Hongkong or Kowloon have had any occasion to complain of the behaviour of Germans or Austrians, since the outbreak of war.

It was once rumoured in the early stages of the that the inhabitants of the German Club were behaving in
a noisy and boisterous manner there, but both Police in uniform
and Police in plain clothing keeping close observation on the
place, failed to see or hear anything out of place.
The Police interviewed several of the inhabit-
ants in the vicinity of the club and they stated that as
regards the noises complained of at the Club before the out-
break of war, all had been tranquillity since.
