Report on work other than routine abne in the Bacteriological Institute, Hongkong, for the 1st half year, 1914.

The investigation of the mosquitoes of Hongkong mentioned
in my previous report has been continued and arrangements have been
made to carry on this work till the end of this year.
It is therefore undesirable at this stags to attempt any-
thing more than a brief summary of the work so far dene.
The total number of samples of larvae collected and
brought to this Institute for breeding out now amounts to 11671.
From these samples of larvae, 28,000 adult mosquitoes have
been bred out and pinned.
22,671 of these specimens have been forwarded to the Director, Imperial Bureau of Entomology (British Museum) for deter-
mination and 12,731 out of the 22,671 specimens have already been
named by the Bureau.
These 12,731 specimens have been classified by the Bureau
as follows:-
