August 16th with reference to my despatch of November 28th 1895 general in view of cessation of oversea tradeof Germany and Austria and consequent loss of business and employment both in that country and the Colonies it is of utmost importance that full and up to date information as to the principal importa into the Colony under your Government from these countries and pro- ducts of Colony and exports to them should be available for manufacturers and importers in this country. Would be glad to have as soon as possible complete information bringing replies to despatch in question up to date and to have by earliest opportu- nity particulars af and samples as to the leading lines of articles of trade with enemy countries.
