I also desire to complete the scheme of main roads by constructing a secondary main road of a width over-all of 18 feet from Ta Ku Ling to the Fanling-Shataukok Road, dott- ed green on the plan enclosed, and from Fanling to Kam Tin, dotted blue on the plan, and to widen the existing 8 foot road between Kam Tin and Au Tau to 18 feet. This will give a road- way of 18 feet practically north and south though the Northern District,will connect many villages with the railway at Fan- ling, and will open up a considerable area which is likely to prove attractive for residential purposes and for new camping grounds for military exercises.

There are also two small roads to be construct- ed for Police purposes of a width of 6 feet only one from San Tin to the new Police Station at Lok lia Chau and the other from Ping Shan Police Station to Sha Kong Miu in Deep Bay. These are estimated to cost $7,500 and $4,200 respectively.
