I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No.144 of the 10th June on the subject of
the retirement of Mr. P. N. H. Jones, and to forward, in tri- plicate, the enclosed paper giving particulars of that offic- er's service in Hongkong for pension purposes, from which it will be seen that Mr. Jones is entitled to a contribution from the funds of this Colony towards his total pension of £145 158.0d per anmu.

I should be glad if I could be informed
whether Mr. Jones intends to contribute towards the Widows
and Orphans Pension Fund of this Colony on the basis of his
salary in Hongkong in which case the contribution would be
£32 8s .0d per annum or on the basis of his pension from Hong Kong in which case the contribution would be £4.11s .10d per
annum. In the former case the amount of the Widows and
Orphans pension would be £108.11s .ld per annum and in the latter case £61 .168 9d per annum.
