I received such frequent complaints from Ir. Fisher regarding

Dr.Wright, whom I had found to be a very capable and reliable

officer, that, when an opportunity occurred, I transferred the

latter to the Buildings Ordinance branch(October 1908), where

he has performed his duties very successfully.

7.

r. Little resigned and went home, on account of some

domestic troubles, towards the termination of his agreement

(February 1907) and a successor was applied for, but, as Ir.

Little himself applied for the vacancy, he was re-appointed,

returning to the Colony in September 1907. He resigned from the

serviee on the 31st October 1909 and went into private practice.

Two new Assistants (Lessrs.Wood and Ross) were then

appointed to assist Lr. Fisher. They arrived in January and

February, 1910, respectively.

8.

9. In addition to his two office assistants, lir. Fisher

has the services of a 1st class overseer (Mr.Longstaff) and

of a Clerk of Works (r. Thomas). The former arrived in the

Colony in April 1902 and the latter in February 1904. There

was another dlerk of Works who preceded 1r. Thomas, but he

misconducted himself and was discharged. r. Longstaff

resigned his appointment in May 1910 and joined T.Little as

an assistant.

10. Kr. Thomas has been engaged almost exclusively upon

the Law Courts and ir. Longstaff, after the superstructure of

of the Post Office was begun, was almost exclusively engaged

upon that work. During the absence of either officer on leave,

the other performed his duties and it unfortunately happened

that Mr. Longstaff resigned whilst Ir. Thomas was on leave.

11.

The resignations of Kr.Little(31.10.00) and of Er.

Longstaff (31.5.10) are the se referred to by Mr. Fisher at

the foot of p.) and it will be gathered from the above that

his statement is somewhat misleading. His two new assistants

(Messrs. Wood and Ross) had arrived prior to the resignation
