FITTINGS ETC: FOR COMPLETING THE BUILDING

The contract for this work was signed by the present Ir.

Chan A Ting on the 22nd February 1908 the amount being $124,271

09 and the date for completion was the 31st December 1909. A

little extra work has been ordered for which the Contractor

would be entitled to. say two months extra time, thus bringing

the date for completion to the end of February 1910.

With regard to the contract amount of g124,271.09 I have

to point out that a sum of $34,422. represents the value of

materials obtained from England and supplied by the Government

to the Contractor, thus leaving the value of work to be done

by him at $89,849.

The following schedule will shew the approximate value of

work executed year by year.

I now beg to comment upon the unfinished contracts as

As regards the contract rate for the work at the time the

contract for the superstructure was entered into, I would point

out there was a building boom in in the Colony and Contractors
