ENTITLED
An Ordinance to provide for the payment of fees
in respect of Private Bills.
BR it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Private Bills Short title. Ordinance, 1914.
2. In this Ordinance :-
"Private Bill" means any bill by which individual rights or interests of property may be peenliarly affected or the primary object of which is to promote the interests of individual persons or corporations rather than those of the com- munity at large.

3. The promoters of every private bill shall pay to the Fee to be Colonial Treasurer in respect of such bill for the use of the payable in general revenue of the Colony the fee of five hundred respect of dollars within seven days after the passing of such bill.

Objects and Reasons.
The object of this Bill is to impose a fee to be paid in respect of private bills. Numerous fees are payable in respect of such bills in the United Kingdom and the total amount of the fees payable even in the supplest va-e coll- siderably exceeds the fee which this Bill proposes to impose.
