that in the cases of Police Officers gith previous service in the Royal Irish Constabulary and Metropolitan Police Force their Imperial Pension rights are preserved. I presume that the same

is the case when officers have had previous service in the Royal Navy, but I am not clear whether the additional pension in respect of such previous service is payable by the Imperial Government or by the Colony.

This is the first case in which an officer with

less than 10 years' service under the Hongkong Government claims pension in respect of previous service under the Crown, and I should therefore be obliged for your ruling as to whether this Government is responsible for the additional pension.
