In continuation of paragraph 4 of my confi-

dential despatch of the 16th June, I have the honour to

report that Messrs. Michael & Co. have applied for permis-

sion to import 200 chests of opium into the Colony on the

Macao Opium Farmer's account; one quarter of this consign-

ment is to be delivered to the Farmer before the 1st August

and the remainder at a subsequent date. Messrs. Michael

have been informed that this Government entertains no

objection to the arrangement,provided (a) that the Indian

Government is notified and its consent obtained, (b) that

the opium is stored in this Colony under the supervision

of the Superintendent of Imports and Exports and (c) that

the opium issued from store will be deducted from the

supply which the Macao Farmer is allowed to import during

the year 1914-15.
