With reference to my Despatch No. 150 of the

9th. May on the subject of Sanitary Inspector O'Halloran's death at

sea en route to England on leave, I have the honour to inform you

that I have reimbursed the Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Company

in the sum of $173.25 being the expenditure incurred by the Company

in connection with deceased's interment at Singapore.

I do not propose to recover the money from the

relatives of deceased, who are probably in straitened circumstances,

and I will, if you approve, debit the abunt to the "Miscellaneous

Services Vote.
