should it do so I desire to recommend Mr E.H.Sharp K.O.,

whose qualifications are well know to you and who was

recommended by Sir F.Lugard in his confidential despatch

5th of March 1912.

Kr E.H. Sharp was the leader of the Bar here before he

left it temperarily to practiés in Londen where he achieved

conséderable success. Eo has now been back in Heng Keng for

some little time and is again the leader of the Bar and by repéréd the best lawyer that has over graced it. Ho kas private means and would I believe give up his lucrative practice to take up the port of Attorney General, for which

he has ever had a predilection.

5. Mr Sharp is 55′ phari at age and should you consider

him tee old and still desire te appoint one who is not in the Civil Service, then I would recommend Er H.M.Soott I.0.

of the Fiji Bar who I understand is at present acting

Attorney General in that Celeny.

I formed a very high opinion of Mr Soett's capacity while I was in Piji. I de met think he is more than 45 years of age. He is a man of great industry, the large practice he has built up predves kis ability and I think any Colony

would be extremely well served by him as Attorney General. 6. In the event of your desiring not to travel outside the ranks of the Services for this appointment, I would strongly recommend Mr Albert Ehrhardt K.G. Attorney Generel of Fiji. Me Farhardt is a sound lawyer and an industrious able man who would I an sure fill the appointment with much oredit to himself and to the Colony.

I have the honour to be,Sir,

Your mest kumble obedient Servant,

I
