sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your Memorandum of the 28th. ultimo enclosing copy and trans- -lation of a letter frm the Civil Governor stating that he had sent the Chief of Police to present the Civil Governor's
respects to me.
I had the pleasure yesterday of receiving
this delegate and I was very glad of the opportunity of asking him to convey to the Civil Governor my appreciation of his courtesy in sending him.
I shall be obliged if you will inform the Civil Governor that I am very grateful to him for thus exhibiting his friendliness and goodwill and that I hope for an opportunity
of personally thanking him.
I enclose a letter to the Tutu in reply to
one from him handed to me by one of the Military Commissioner's
suite.
