In reply to your letter of the 12th. instant,
I am directed to inform you that this Government does not require the assistance of Solicitors and Counsel instructed by the Govern- -ment of Kwangtung in dealing with any Petition of Chung Sau-nam to the Privy Council for leave to appeal from the decision of the Full Court or in opposing the appeal if such Petition is success- -ful. Further proceedings in this case are the concern of the Hongkong Government and it will conduct them on its own responsibi- -lity and at its own costs.
