In reply to Your Excellency's letter No.1116/10 dated 27th. November, 1913, regarding the site for a High Power Wireless Telegraph Station, I have the honour to forward a resolut- -ion of the Local Defence Committee passed at a Leeting neld on the 6th. December, 1913;-

"The Local Defence Committee having considered the question of the site for a High Power Wireless Telegraphy Station are of opinion that from a Defence point of view Stonecut- -tera Island is far the best site. If, however, the technical objections to that are insuperable they quite free that the proposed site lorth East of Gin Drinkers Bay is the only possible one".

"The Committee are fully alive to the fact that it is better to have an installation on a badly defensible site than not to have one at all".

"They lay reat stress, however, on the protect- -ion of the Power House and any other buildings from lit shell fire from small craft, and also on their being so constructed as to be defensible by a small garrison from raids and capable of protect- -ing by rifle and machine gun fire the wasts and area generally. In view of this the Committee recommend that the plane should be designed by Civil and Military Engineers conjointly, and that they should be submitted to the Local Defence Comittee for aproval".
