Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your Confidential Despatch of the 8th. August on the subject of the selection of a site for a High Power Wireless Station at Hong- -kong.
2.
In accordance with pare raph 4 of your Des- -patch Mr. Severn arranged with the Naval and Military Authorities for the re-assembling of the Joint Committee, and I enclose a copy of their report. I also enclose copies of correspondence between Mr. Severn and the General Officer Commanding from which you will see that both Lajor-General Kelly and the Local Defence Committee
are of opinion that if the technical objections to Stonecutters Island are insuperable then Site No. 3 is the only possible alter-
-native.

I enclose a report from the Principal Civil Medical Officer on the questions of the healthiness of the site in Gin Drinkers' Bay for European occupation and of supply there of potable water, together with a valuation by the Director of Public Works of the Crown Land comprised in the proposed site and an estimate of the cost of resuming the private property lying
within the ares.

There is no means of access by land to the
site except by a rough path used by Chinese and the position is
