7th. November last the period of Lr. Cooper's half-pay leave is reckoned as 7 months and 1 day, being from the 9th. March to the 9th. October, 1894. It was overlooked that Mr. Cooper had also been on half-pay from the 15th, November, 1087, the date of his appointment, to the 5th. January, 1888, the day prior to his arrival in the Colony. In place then of a deduction of three months and fifteen days a deduction of 4 months and 11 days should be made in respect of half the half-pay leave, and the factor for pension is accordingly reduced from 133/720 to 132/720. To this would be added, with your approval, a period of nine months being proportionate part of the period of two years referred to in the 4th. paragraph above making the factor in all 141/720 which gives a pension of 1,304.25 or (at 3 s. d.) £239 2 3 per annum as shown in the paper of particulars enclosed.
